Q:         How does the wireless mesh network operate? Does my house require line of sight to a far away tower? A:         Our wireless service is unlike traditional wireless deployments that use tall towers. We install several access points at street level to cover neighborhoods that do not have broadband service. This way, the access points create blanket coverage, eliminating the need for line of sight to a tower located 10 km away. Q:         What type of network does SimplySurf operate? A:         The entire SimplySurf backbone is supported by a strong fiber optic network. SimplySurf peers with more than one fiber network to ensure stability, reliability and network resiliency. Our wireless infrastructure uses the most advanced solutions coupled with the highest level of security. Q:         What type of hardware do I need to connect to SimplySurf? A:         A wireless network card supporting WPA and 802.1X is required to connect to our Wireless network. SimplySurf can provide the necessary equipment, if required. Q:         I have a network at home. Can I share the SimplySurf connection with all my computers? A:         Yes you can. The incoming connection can be shared using an Internet sharing router which supports WPA and 802.1X. SimplySurf can provide the necessary equipment, if required. Q:         What is WPA and 802.1X security and why is it important? A:         The combination of WPA and 802.1X technology provides a secure connection to the SimplySurf network. Without this level of security, any wireless network can be compromised. Q:         What is included in the setup fee? A:         Our one-time setup charge is $250, which covers the cost to connect to our network. It also included the engineering and site surveys required to insure your location has satisfactory coverage. Q:         Are there any bandwidth caps? A:         During the first year of our deployments, there will be no limit on data transfer, subject to proper network etiquette. Q:          Do I need to sign a contract? A:         There is a one (1) year SimplySurf agreement. Q:         Is the SimplySurf wireless network shared amongst users? A:         The network backbone and infrastructure are shared by all users, although there is customer separation security to ensure that each user has a private, encrypted session. This prevents users from accessing each other through the wireless network. Q:         I currently have web hosting with another ISP, do I have to move it over to your service? A:         Although it is not necessary to move your domain name to us, you can benefit from our low web hosting rates. Our plans start at just $4.95 per month. Q:         How many subscribers are required to bring service to my area? A:         We do not base our deployments on the number of subscribers, however areas of high demand will have a higher priority regarding where we choose subsequent deployments.
